Ex-Moroka Swallows Star Hints at Return

Former Moroka Swallows winger, Lebohang “Cheeseboy” Mokoena, is eager to lace up his soccer boots once again in the near future.

In 2022, Mokoena stepped back from the beautiful game in order to care for his children following the death of his wife.

In a recent interview with a local soccer outlet, the 37-year-old forward lifted the lid on the goings-on in his life.

“I was asked this, ‘When are you going back to the field?’ Other people don’t understand the politics and the dynamics,” he said. “But obviously, I’m coaching now, school, [and] I’m also busy as an ambassador. So, there are other things I’m trying to do in case I don’t go back.”

Nevertheless, Mokena is excited about the prospect of returning to the field.

“But if there’s an opportunity, Cheese is available,” he declared. “Vuyo Mere is still playing, Bernard Parker is still playing – if they’re doing it, I can also do it. It’s a matter of me getting the opportunity.”

Could Cheeseboy find himself playing for Swallows again, or will he explore his options – as a player or coach – elsewhere? As always, watch this space!
